SBI Green Fund

ACRD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the SBI Foundation, the CSR subsidiary of State Bank of India under the Green Fund initiative. The Green Fund programme will cover two remote villages of Doomni and Dekadong in Baksa district of Assam.  Aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals 6, the programme will focus on improving the health and sanitary conditions of the poor tea garden communities in the two villages.

The Green Fund initiative undertaken for a period of three years will focus on the following –

  • Construction of 42 new community toilets and up gradation of 15 existing community toilets in the two villages.
  • To help the two villages become Open Defecation Free (ODF)
  • To promote usage of toilets in both the villages.
  • To promote washing of hands at regular intervals.
  • To establish village health committees in each village with support of local residents to monitor sanitation related diseases
  • To bringing about behavioural changes in the community by practicing safe hygiene, emphasising on the importance of sanitation at the community level and creating a broader enabling environment, thereby enhancing their dignity and safety
  • To promote community involvement in sustainability of the sanitation facilities.
